Overview:
Our Underwriting Team plays a critical role in evaluating and analyzing loans financing single-family rental and Multifamily properties. The role requires a skilled and detail-oriented experienced underwriter of commercial real estate, ideally multifamily, Build-for-Rent and SFR portfolio properties.
The primary responsibility of our Underwriting Team is to assess the creditworthiness of potential borrowers and determine the risk associated with extending credit, as well as the ability to perform complex cash flow analysis and valuation of portfolio of real estate properties. Our team is accountable for the following:
- Assessing applicant creditworthiness and ensuring all loan requests comply with internal lending policies and regulatory requirements.
- Reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and supporting documentation to make informed loan approval decisions.
- Maintaining continuity with borrowers throughout the full lifecycle—from origination through closing.
- Supporting additional special projects within credit operations and asset management.
The specific duties/responsibilities, role (title) and salary will be determined based on the hiring level and associated with the experience and skills of the individual candidate. Base Salary + discretionary bonus.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Proven experience in commercial real estate loan underwriting and SFR a plus.
- Strong understanding of real estate-based lending and underwriting principles. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of current lending policies and regulatory requirements.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
A successful Commercial Loan Underwriter possesses strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of financial concepts and risk management. Effective communication and collaboration are essential for working with various stakeholders in the lending process.
